FAQs

Q: Should I use open cell or closed cell insulation?
A: We recommend an open cell application on residential buildings for both walls and attic because open cell allows humidity to dissipate from inside the home and it is also more cost effective for the home owner. Closed cell would be recommended to be used in wall areas without a moisture barrier to add a moisture barrier for the prevention of mold. Closed cell would also be recommended for pier and beam homes applied to the bottom of sub floor.

Q: Do I need to remove my old insulation from my attic?
A: Removal of existing insulation is not necessary because the existing insulation helps to keep heat in during the colder seasons and does not effect the efficiency of the spray foam product.

Q: Are you insured?
A: Of course! Any company worth doing business with knows that it needs to protect itself and it's customers from the unforeseen. We are currently using Nationwide insurance.

Q: How much does it cost to have our home retrofitted with spray foam insulation?
A: The cost is broken down to a price per square foot basis. Please feel free to contact us for more information.

Q: Do you seal the soffit and ridge vents?
A: Yes. The purpose of using spray foam is to create and envelope around your home to seal it from the elements. Without sealing these vital areas in the summer your attic would reach over 100 degrees which would defeat the goal of keeping your attic at an average temperature of 80-85 degrees.

Q: Do you insulate the gable ends of the roof?
A: Yes. For the same reasons we seal the soffit and ridge vents the gable ends of the roof must be sealed off.

Q: How long will it take to schedule and complete the work?
A: Depending on the size of the job and our current work load the job can be scheduled and competed within a few weeks. The average size home takes 1 to 2 days to complete.

Q: Is there a tax rebate and if there is how can I apply for it?
A: Yes. There is a federal tax rebate available right now of 500 Dollars. Also, depending on which city you live in you may also be eligible for an additional rebate from your local energy company. Feel free to contact us if you need any help in finding out if you are eligible.

Q: How can we get spray foam insulation into our already finished walls?
A: In an existing home if there is already insulation in the walls then the application of spray foam is not possible. However, some older homes do not have insulation in the walls and an intricate process of drilling small holes and filling out the wall cavities with spray foam insulation can be completed. The holes will need to be repaired at the home owners expense.

Q: Who actually does the work for your company?
A:  We have a team of professionals that is personally supervised by Micheal Linn, owner of Investofoam.
